Our mission is to curtail the high school dropout rate and increase degree and/or certificate enrollment among underserved, underrepresented, at risk, low resource, homeless and foster students.

About the Role- We are The Movement!

Under the National College Resources Foundation, Peer Advisors within The Movement Enrichment Program (TMEP) work with elementary, middle, and high school students to improve their academic performance, while guiding them towards positive post-secondary pursuits. What sets this program apart from most other educational initiatives is what we call “comprehensive intervention,” which includes, most notably, onsite, and holistic in-class support for students. This approach includes, but is not limited to, mentoring, academic tutoring, socioemotional support and college and career planning.


Responsibilities:

  • Academic Support (40%) – Provide personalized academic advising in subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, and English. Adapt instruction to each student’s learning style and needs.

  • Mentorship & Behavioral Support (40%) – Promote positive classroom behavior and help students develop life and coping skills for success beyond school.

  • Data Tracking (10%) – Maintain accurate weekly records of student interactions and progress.

  • Workshop Development & Facilitation (5%) – Design and lead engaging workshops that build cultural awareness, professional skills, and community involvement.
  • College & Career Planning (5%) – Guide students through exploring postsecondary options including college, trade schools, employment, and internships.

Required Qualifications

  • Passion for working with underserved and underrepresented student populations.

  • Currently pursuing or holding a degree (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5).

  • Ability to:

    • work both independently and collaboratively.

    • exercise good judgment and creativity.

    • organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines under pressure.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with diverse students.

  • Proficiency across high school level academic subjects.

  • Reliable transportation and internet access.

  • Must successfully complete all required background checks (TB, State/FBI).

  • Proactive and goal-oriented attitude.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

  • Two or more years of relevant experience in education, youth development, or a related field.


Educational Requirements

  • Associate's degree preferred; equivalent relevant work experience will be considered.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Hours: 20-29 hours per week
  • Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

  • Pay: $18–$20 per hour, depending on experience
