Are you looking to make a real difference in your community?

Build your career as a champion for youth with National College Resources Foundation (NCRF). NCRF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational enhancement organization well known for hosting The Black College Expo in seventeen different cities across the United States, as well as a variety of other programs geared toward inspiring a positive impact. Our mission is to curtail the high school dropout rate and increase degree and/or certificate enrollment among underserved, underrepresented, at risk, low resource, homeless and foster students.

NCRF's vision is to close the gap in educational achievement, workforce and economic disparities.

About the Role- We are The Movement!

Peer Advisors for The Movement Enrichment Program (a branch of NCRF) work with elementary, middle, and high school students to improve their academic performance, while guiding them towards positive post-secondary pursuits. What sets this program apart from most other educational initiatives is what we call “comprehensive intervention,” which includes, most notably, onsite, and holistic in-class support for students. This approach includes, but is not limited to, mentoring, academic tutoring, socioemotional support and college and career planning.

In San Diego, Peer Advisors for The Movement support students within the Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS). JCCS is an alternative schooling program for school-age youth who are either wards of the court or have been referred by social services, probation, or one of the 42 school districts in San Diego County. The student demographic expands to youth who are incarcerated, pregnant or parenting, in foster care, expelled, chronically truant, in drug treatment centers and group homes for neglected or abused children, and experiencing homelessness.

  • Academic Support (40%) – Provide personalized academic advising in subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, and English. Adapt instruction to each student’s learning style and needs.

  • Mentorship & Behavioral Support (40%) – Promote positive classroom behavior and help students develop life and coping skills for success beyond school.

  • Data Tracking (10%) – Maintain accurate weekly records of student interactions and progress.
