About the Role — We Are The Movement!

Under the National College Resources Foundation, Peer Advisors within The Movement Enrichment Program (TMEP) work with elementary school students (K–8th grade), leading creative activities, STEAM exposure, and engaging experiences while guiding students toward positive post-secondary pursuits. What sets this program apart is what we call "comprehensive intervention" — most notably, onsite, holistic, in-class support for students. This approach includes mentoring, academic tutoring, socioemotional support, and college and career planning.

What You'll Do

• Academic Support – Provide personalized academic support, adapting instruction to each student's learning style and needs.

• Mentorship & Behavioral Support – Promote positive classroom behavior and help students build life and coping skills for success beyond school.

• Data Tracking – Maintain accurate weekly records of student interactions and progress.

• Workshop Development & Facilitation – Design and lead engaging workshops, activities, and games that build cultural awareness, spark career interest, enhance skills, and encourage community involvement.

• College & Career Exposure – Guide students through exploring postsecondary options, including college, trade schools, employment, and internships.

What You'll Bring

• A passion for working with underserved and underrepresented student populations.

• A fun, dynamic presence when working with elementary school students.

• Currently pursuing or holding a degree (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5).

• Ability to:

  • Work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Exercise good judgment and creativity.

  • Organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines under pressure.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with diverse students.

• Proficiency across high school-level academic subjects.

• Reliable transportation and internet access.

• Successful completion of all required background checks (TB, State/FBI).

• A proactive, goal-oriented attitude.

• Proficiency in Google Suite.

• Ability to occasionally visit our corporate office in Walnut, California.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

• Two or more years of relevant experience in education, youth development, or a related field.

Schedule & Compensation

• Hours: 9–12 hours per week

• Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM (based on school district academic calendar)

• Pay: $19–$21 per hour, depending on experience
